When 3CX is the better choice

3CX is a phone system your firm hosts and runs itself. If you have IT support and want that control, it'll serve you better than VXT.

You have IT support and want to host the phone system yourself.

You want to keep your existing SIP trunk, desk phones and numbers.

You want the licence cost per person to fall as the firm grows.

When VXT is the better choice

VXT is a phone system built for law firms. If that's your firm, it'll do what 3CX can't.

You need a file note and a time entry on the matter after every call.

You want the client's file on screen before you answer.

You'd rather nobody at the firm looked after a phone server.

Choosing the best option for your team

Can I keep my existing phone numbers?
Yes. VXT supports number porting, so you can bring your existing numbers with you. How long it takes depends on the country your numbers are registered in.
What is VoIP?

Unlike traditional systems that rely on physical phone lines, VoIP uses the internet to make calls. This means VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) offers more features, scalability, and cost savings. It’s also easier to set up and maintain compared to legacy systems.

What is VXT?
VXT is a phone system built for law firms. It records and transcribes calls, writes a summary, creates a time entry, and saves both to the right matter in your legal software — Clio, Actionstep, LEAP, Smokeball, Filevine, NetDocuments, iManage and more. It also drafts the follow-up email for you to send.
Which phone system is right for my team?
VXT is built for law firms. Call notes and time entries save to the matter in your legal software, and there is nothing for your firm to host. 3CX is a full PBX you run yourself, on your own server or theirs. It suits firms with IT support who want to control the system and keep their existing SIP trunk and handsets.
Does 3CX integrate with my legal software?
Not on its own. 3CX ships CRM templates and a documented format for building your own, and a handful of partners have built integrations for Actionstep and Clio. Those come from a separate company, cost a separate fee, and can break when 3CX updates. VXT builds and supports its legal integrations itself.
Which is better for a small law firm?
It depends on whether you have IT support. 3CX licences are cheap, but someone has to set up the system, the SIP trunk and the numbers, and keep them running. VXT is set up by the firm in days, with no server to look after, and the notes and time entries land in your legal software.

Practice law, not paperwork

VXT works on the device you're using. It’s free to get started.
