ALPMA Summit 2025 Highlights

Last week our team headed to Sydney for the ALPMA Summit 2025, and what a week it was. From real talk with firms about their biggest challenges to some unforgettable conference antics, we came away with plenty to share.

What is ALPMA Summit?

ALPMA (the Australasian Legal Practice Management Association) is one of Australia’s largest industry bodies, representing managers and lawyers with a legal practice management role.

Its annual conference brings together practice managers, lawyers, and industry partners to share ideas, hear about emerging trends, and explore the tools shaping the future of law.

For us at VXT, it’s a chance to connect directly with firm leaders and understand the real challenges they’re facing day to day.

What we heard from firms at ALPMA Summit

The clearest message we got from ALPMA was that firms are still struggling with the basics of communication. It wasn’t about fancy integrations or flashy new tech. It was about everyday pain points that slow teams down and cost money.

Firms told us:

  • “We have no way to transfer calls.”
  • “Voicemails just go into a black hole.”
  • File notes are still manual” (if they get written at all).

These aren’t small annoyances. They’re the kinds of issues that lead to missed billable time, frustrated staff, and clients who don’t get the service they expect.

Almost every firm we spoke with wanted to be more efficient, and to stop losing hours each week to broken phone systems. Hearing this again and again confirmed what we already know: firms are wasting time and missing revenue because of outdated tools.

When people learned VXT (the phone system built for lawyers) integrates with the legal software they already use, it genuinely surprised them. Transferring calls, automatically tracking time, syncing contacts, and being able to save file notes straight to the right matter in their legal software, weren’t just “nice to haves”, they were exactly what firms had been missing.

The lighter side

Of course, ALPMA wasn’t all business. Conferences are also about connection and fun, and this year Sydney didn’t disappoint.

The standout moment was the cowboy happy hour. Hundreds of people gathered next to the Opera House, with live music pumping, drinks flowing, and more cowboy hats and boots than you’d expect in Australia (seems to be a common theme at these legal tech conferences lately 🧐).

Some of our other highlights that made the event memorable:

The bull ride

Luke and Naman took a spin on the mechanical bull, with predictable results.

Sydney sunshine

Stunning weather made the waterfront venue even better.

Poker table

VXT’s own card shark Naman took home bragging rights after winning a couple of big hands (with fake chips of course).

Moments like these are what make conferences more than just sessions and keynotes. They’re where the community builds, stories get swapped, and memories stick.

What’s next?

We had an incredible time at ALPMA Summit 2025 and want to thank everyone who came by our booth to chat. The best part of events like this is connecting with so many great people, and hearing firsthand what firms are struggling with and what’s working.

We can’t wait to see you all again at ALPMA Summit 2026!

Try VXT at your firm

In case you’re new here, VXT is the only phone system built for lawyers. We integrate with the software your firm already uses to display client information on incoming calls and automatically save all of the important details from your phone calls (like your billable time and full call transcriptions) into your practice management system against the right legal matter.

If we missed you in Sydney, we’d still love to connect. Book in a free demo and let’s chat about how VXT can help your firm record file notes easier, capture 20% more billable units, and get back hours each week.
