Law Biz Con 2025 Highlights

Couldn’t make it to Law Biz Con this year? No worries, here’s a quick recap of what you missed.

Law Biz Con 2025 brought together legal entrepreneurs, law firm leaders, and industry experts for two days of strategy, innovation, and connection on the Gold Coast.

From profitability and pricing, to leadership and legal tech, attendees left with fresh perspectives and practical tools to elevate their firms and lead with purpose.

We loved catching up with customers, meeting new firms, and hanging out with our friends Jay Hong and Adriano Famularo from Clio.

A standout session for us was Fiona McLay’s talk on legal ops and marketing, which gave us an interesting look at where law and tech are heading.

Huge thanks to the organisers (special shoutout to Caralee Fontenele), speakers, and attendees who made it such a standout event.

Caralee, Director at Collective Family Law, recently shared how VXT transformed the way her firm handles calls, tracks time, and supports clients. Check out her testimonial here.

VXT at Law Biz Con

We were proud to join the legal industry’s best and brightest to explore the future of law firm growth and where VXT fits into that future.

Luke Campbell, VXT’s CEO and Co-founder, delivered a talk on “The Future of Billing in Law,” challenging common assumptions about pricing models.

“Hourly billing gets too much hate — it’s not going anywhere. But for some firms, switching to fixed fees could mean more profit with less work.” – Luke Campbell, VXT Co-Founder.

Drawing on lessons from the software world, Luke unpacked how pricing strategy, paired with tools like VXT, can unlock new levels of efficiency and profitability.

New at VXT: Default matters and call flow improvements

Alongside all the great conversations with new firms and existing customers, we announced two major updates to VXT’s Phone product:

Save time and stay organised with default matters

VXT is a phone system built for law firms that links directly to your practice management system (PMS). When you make or receive a call, everything important about that call (how long you talked, what you discussed, and any notes you made) can be saved automatically to the right case and contact in your PMS. Default matters in VXT makes that even easier.

Already using VXT? Well if you’re tired of manually entering matter details and searching for the right matter to save notes to after every call, with default matters, you can now assign a default matter to a contact in VXT.

This means you can save any call or communication with a contact to a specific matter, and all future communications will be saved to that matter (until you remove or change the default matter).

Smarter call flows

We’ve made big improvements to how your team manages and edits call flows:

  • Scheduling: You can now select date ranges in the call flow schedule step. Public holidays (national and regional) are automatically populated.
  • Call queue upgrades: Preview audio clips directly from the call queue setup screen, making queue management faster and easier.
